SOME OF THE KEY ELEMENTS OF THE NEW NATIONAL CONSUMER CREDIT LEGISLATION In the second half of 2009, the National Consumer Credit Protection Bill 2009 was introduced in the Federal Parliament. The main thrust is to enact the previous state-based legislation at a Federal level whilst consolidating and enhancing the current framework where necessary.

SIMPLE SOLUTION FOR SMSFS: EDUCATION NOT REGULATION It’s called ‘the Nanny State’. It refers to that political philosophy that says that everything can be fixed by the State regulating our behaviour.
SUPERANNUATION
MODEL TRUST DEED It seems that the Government could soon be your superannuation lawyer. The Federal Government’s Review into superannuation (the Cooper Review) has suggested that a standard trust deed for SMSFs could be provided by the Tax Office (at no cost).

WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE NOT HAVE A WILL? The current available survey evidence is that 50% of adults in Australia do not have a Will. Combine this statistic with the estimated two thirds of existing Wills likely to be out-of-date owing to an individual’s changed circumstances, this leaves around 85% of adults without any means of adequately allocating assets in the event of death.
